Improve Treatment and Support Research

On Saturday, July 11, four thousand people will help cure cancer.

They’re neighbors and friends, coworkers and associates, coming together to raise funds for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center’s 28th annual Prouty Bike Ride and Challenge Walk. In the 27 years of this event, the Prouty has raised more than $8.35 million for this important work. This year’s goal: $2.25 million.

The NCCC is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in northern New England. “In that leadership role,” says Dr. Mark Israel, the Center’s director, “one of our goals is to improve our ability to translate our cutting-edge laboratory and clinical research into treatments as quickly as possible.”

Martha and I love the Prouty, and we support it every year. It’s important to my company, M2S, a technology service provider with deep ties to the NCCC. But more than that, it’s important to us personally, in our commitment to finding a cure for cancer.

My company has pledged to raise $100,000 in this year’s Prouty. Won’t you join the effort? Sign up as part of the M2S team at theprouty.org. You can walk 5K or 10K through Hanover, or ride your bike 20, 35, 50, or 100 miles. Or ride with me as I tackle back to back “century rides” for a total of 200 miles in the Prouty Ultimate.
